Jeff Gipson, the director of Disney Animation’s VR shorts “Myth: A Frozen Tale” and “Cycles,” has inked a deal with startup DreamFlare AI to create a series of shorts for its recently-launched generative AI content platform.
With a background in VFX and immersive storytelling, Gipson was honored with the AIXR VR Film of the Year award in 2020 for his short“Myth: A Frozen Tale,” a story set in the “Frozen” world; an Advanced Imaging Society Lumiere Award for best animated VR film in 2019 forCycles, a story that follows a family in their home that was billed as Disney Animation’s first VR short; and four Visual Effects Society Award nominations. He has also contributed to the VFX on Disney’s “Zootopia” and “Moana.”
