Dwight Yoakam and Emily Joyce have been together for many years.

In May 2020, the couple shared in an announcement that they were married. They also revealed that they began dating in 2010 and had been engaged for several years.

"Dwight Yoakam and Emily Joyce wed in March just before the quarantine in a private ceremony at St. Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica," a rep for the musician confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE, referencing the COVID-19 pandemic. "At a time when there is so much uncertainty in the world, there are still happy moments."

The pair exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony in Santa Monica, California, in front of less than 10 attendees who were all seated at least six feet from one another.

Yoakam shared two photos of himself with his bride on their wedding day on Instagram along with the announcement.

So who is Dwight Yoakam's wife? Here’s everything to know about Emily Joyce and her relationship with the country singer.

Although little information is known about Joyce's profession as a photographer, she held an exhibit of her work at The Salon in Los Angeles in 2016. She has also photographed Yoakam on different occasions, and some of the snaps have been shared on social media.

Yoakam shared a birthday tribute to Joyce in November 2019 with a sweet message, as well as a photo of Joyce with her camera.

“Happy Birthday Emily!!⁣ ⁣Thank you for the love and joy you give to my life," he wrote in his caption.⁣ "⁣I love you for selflessly sharing the space in my life that isn’t always an easy place to be.⁣ ⁣Love⁣ ⁣Dwight⁣.”

Yoakam and Joyce welcomed their first child together, son Dalton Loren, in August 2020. His birth was announced by the singer's team on Instagram with photos of a pregnant Joyce and Yoakam headed to the hospital.

"Like the lyric from the song Waterfall that Dwight wrote for Emily on his 3 Pears album says... Babies get born even in a... Pandemic lock down..." the statement read. "With great joy and happiness Dwight & Emily announce the birth this past Sunday of their new baby boy."

Although the couple kept their relationship out of the headlines, they did make public appearances together over the years.

They were spotted attending the 2019 GQ Men of the Year After Party in December 2019, as well as the 67th Annual BMI Country Awards in November 2019, and the 59th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2017.

While the pair married in March 2020, they waited to make an official announcement until May 2020 out of sensitivity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This belated announcement was withheld out of respect to so many people affected by and on the front lines of this pandemic,” the couple’s announcement read.

Yoakam opened up to PEOPLE in 2012 about his unique home in the Hollywood Hills, which he described as a sunny art-filled Spanish colonial-style home with “a Mediterranean vernacular."

"I picked every door hinge, every piece of tile, every lamp,” he said. “I was here every day during construction. It was my job site."

At the time, he also noted that it’s where he wrote his album, 3 Pears, and Joyce was in his life.

“My artwork kind of oscillates around me when I’m writing songs,” he explained. “There’s a bit of musical frenzy in this record. It’s about having fun and rediscovering love,” adding he was “very happy” in a year-and-a-half relationship at the time with Joyce.

“Love is something we have to seek out every day inside ourselves," Yoakam concluded.

Their home base is quite different from Joyce's roots, who hails from Omaha, Nebraska. Similarly, Yoakam was born in Kentucky and grew up in Ohio.

Joyce takes photos of Yoakam and his guests on his radio show on Sirius XM, Dwight Yoakam and the Bakersfield Beat.

She took photos of Yoakam chatting with guest Rita Wilson in 2019, as well as Yoakam’s interview with Bill Bentley and Carla Olson, Jakob Dylan, Lenny Waronker and more.
