The secret behind Amal Clooney’s luscious lashes is out — and it’s a new mascara you can get for less than $30.
Alongside husband George Clooney, the 46-year-old lawyer and activist walked the red carpet at The Albies last week in New York City, wearing a black, floor-length gown by Versace with sparkling diamond jewelry and a black clutch. The look was one of timeless Hollywood glamor, topped off by bold red lips and dramatic lashes.
Clooney’s makeup was done by Charlotte Tilbury, who shared the details of how she created the look on Instagram, breaking down more than a dozen of her brand’s products that were used, including best-sellers like the Beauty Light Wand, Airbrush Flawless Finish, and Matte Revolution Lipstick.
But the key to achieving Clooney's long lashes was Tilbury's new Exagger-Eyes Volume Mascara, which the company first started selling in late August.
This new volumizing mascara is smudge-proof, clump-proof, sweat-proof, resistant to humidity, and designed to last all day (Tilbury herself claims it can hold up for 28 hours). The brand claims a single application provides nine times the v -
olume of other mascaras based on testing with dozens of people. Top ingredients include synthetic beeswax and jojoba esters for binding and thickening without leaving a greasy texture.
It’s designed to give your lashes double the curling effect of other brands, partly resulting from the unique ultra-curved lash-styling brush. To apply, simply hold the wand horizontally, press the inner curve into your lashes at the root and pull upward before separating the lashes by moving the outer curved bristles side to side through the coated lashes. The brand says removal takes about 10 seconds using eye makeup remover poured onto a cleansing pad.
Exagger-Eyes is a tubing mascara, which is a good option for older women, meaning it forms a tube around each individual lash to achieve its volumizing effect. The product comes in a glass bottle, which looks great on your vanity or makeup shelf but also helps preserve the mascara for longer than a plastic bottle would.
