Jeremy Allen White has transformed from the Bear to the Boss.

The 33-year-old actor has become Bruce Springsteen in a first-look photo from the upcoming biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere, which will chronicle the making of Springsteen's hit 1982 album Nebraska. Production has officially kicked off production in New Jersey.

Starring alongside White are Jeremy Strong as Springsteen's longtime mentor and manager, Jon Landau, plus Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan, Odessa Young as the musician's love interest Faye, Stephen Graham as Springsteen's father and Johnny Cannizzaro as E Street Band member Steve Van Zandt, per a release sent out Monday, Oct. 28.

"The development of Nebraska, which followed Springsteen’s 1981 The River Tour, marked a pivotal time in his life, one that he would only openly talk about decades after its release," reads a description from the release. "It’s regarded as a landmark in his musical odyssey and a source of inspiration for a generation of artists and musicians."

"Recorded on a four-track recorder in Springsteen’s New Jersey bedroom and without The E Street Band, Nebraska is considered one of Springsteen’s most enduring works — a raw, haunted acoustic record populated by lost souls searching for a reason to believe," it continues.

Directed by Scott Cooper, the 20th Century Studios film is adapted from Warren Zanes' 2023 novel Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska.

"Beginning production on this film is an incredibly humbling and thrilling journey,” Cooper, 54, said in the release. “Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska has profoundly shaped my artistic vision. The album’s -

raw, unvarnished portrayal of life’s trials and resilience resonates deeply with me."

Cooper noted that the biopic "aims to capture that same spirit, bringing Warren Zanes’ compelling narrative of Bruce’s life to the screen with authenticity and hope, honoring Bruce’s legacy in a transformative cinematic experience."

"It has been a great pleasure to collaborate with Bruce and Jon as I tell their story, and their creative energy fuels every part of this journey," he added. "As well, I’m excited to reunite with my friend, David Greenbaum president, Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios, as he embarks on his new role at Disney, adding another layer of inspiration to this project.”

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show earlier this month, Springsteen, 75, praised the upcoming film, saying it has "a lovely cast" and that he is "involved a little."

“This is not easy to do because you can’t do an imitation, you have to do a personal interpretation," the music legend said, adding specifically of White, "It’s difficult, but he is a great actor and sings pretty good.”

Last month, White said in the 2024 Emmys press room that he was "pretty excited to start" production on Deliver Me from Nowhere and shared that he had a "really beautiful team of people helping me," in addition to Springsteen's guidance.

"Bruce has been really lovely and supportive and available, which has made this whole process I think such an extra joy that we have his support and Jon Landau — his manager’s — support, who has a large role in the film, as well," he added. "So I feel really lucky."

Deliver Me from Nowhere is slated for a theatrical release in 2025.
