Authorities in Pennsylvania say a man was fatally shot in an alleged dispute over a parking space earlier this week.

Pennsylvania State Police said the altercation occurred Tuesday, June 18, on Madison Avenue in Export, according to CBS affiliate KDKA and ABC affiliate WTAE.

Daniel Chicka, 65, was visiting his girlfriend when he was shot and killed at the scene, KDKA and NBC affiliate WPXI reported.

Matt Miller, 32, was taken into custody following the shooting.

Jail records show he remains in custody as of Wednesday, June 19. It was unclear if he has retained an attorney who could comment on his behalf.

No charges had been filed in connection with the case as of Tuesday night, according to the local outlets.

State Trooper Steve Limani said authorities were looking to connect with neighbors who may have information about the incident or doorbell camera footage, TribLive.com reported.

Police said the shooting stemmed from a disagreement about a parking spot. Chicka and Miller had apparently been arguing over the spot for several months, according to WTAE.

"It's a shame a guy got killed for nothing,&# -

One neighbor told KDKA that Miller was territorial about the space after recently moving into a home on the street.

“I heard something about that a couple of weeks or months ago but I didn’t think it would get to this point when you’re going to kill someone,” a neighbor told WPXI.

State police did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Borough Councilman Joe Ferri said the shooting occurred on a street located on a hillside with dense housing and limited parking, according to TribLive.com.

Export Mayor Joe Zaccagnini said he still has a hard time believing this happened.

“I just feel bad for everybody involved. It’s just sad,” he told the news outlet.

Chicka was a retired coal miner and scaffold-builder, according to WPXI. He also enjoyed motorcycles and remote-controlled airplanes, per KDKA.
