A Texas man was killed by execution on Tuesday evening after being sentenced for the 1989 killing of two twin girls and their mother.
Garcia Glenn White was pronounced dead shortly before 7 p.m. local time at the state penitentiary in Huntsville, according to CBS News, The Associated Press, and USA Today.
"I would like to apologize for all the wrong I have done, and for the pain I've caused," White, 61, said moments before he was given a lethal injection with the sedative pentobarbital, CBS reported.
The convicted murderer began singing several verses of the hymn “I Trust in God” before urging others to “keep loving one another,” before he died 17 minutes after being given the sedative, according to the outlet.
White had appealed his death sentence multiple times, according to the AP, who reported the U.S. Supreme Court rejected three last-minute appeals. White’s lawyers had appealed the death sentence claiming he had mental disabilities, according to the outlet. One of White’s attorneys said Tuesday that his client was “working to be a better human being” while in prison over the last 30 years, according to the AP.
White confessed to the three murders nearly six years after they took place. He had been arrested for killing Hai Pham, a grocery store owner during a robbery before he confessed to the 1989 killings of Bonita Edwards and her two twin 16-year-old daughters Anne -
tte and Bernette Edwards. (White also confessed to killing Sam.)
White said in court that he stabbed Bonita to death after they smoked crack cocaine together in her bedroom and she suddenly grabbed a knife, which he took from her and used to stab her, according to USA Today. White then killed the two twin girls who had come out of their bedroom to check on their mother, according to the AP.

According to USA Today, the murders happened a day after the girls celebrated their 16th birthdays. White also confessed to a fifth murder of a Houston woman Greta Williams, who he beat to death in 1989.
USA Today reported that family members for two of White’s victims had welcomed his killing on Tuesday.
"He has lived longer in prison than my sister lived on this Earth," Dewanta Washington, who was Williams’ sister, told the outlet before he was killed Tuesday. "If you know he did it, he admitted to it, why have all these appeals? It's time for him to pay the piper. He just needs to go meet his maker.”
White was the sixth person killed via execution in the United States in the span of 11 days, according to the AP.
