Halle Berry is giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at her transformation for her latest film, including the fake tattoos and faux armpit hair required to pull off the role.
The 58-year-old actress, who portrays character Momma in horror-thrillerNever Let Go, shared in an Instagram post on Saturday, Sept. 28, just what it took to embody the fictional role.
"Momma in the making 🎥 ," Berry captioned a photo of the theatrical underarm look and other behind-the-scenes images. "One of the most complex characters I’ve had the pleasure of embodying. #NeverLetGo is in theaters everywhere!"
In the first clip in the post, Berry can be seen sitting next to makeup artist Norma Patton-Lowin, who laughed with her as the pair took a gander at the faux armpit hair. "So what's happening here, Norma?," Berry asked Patton-Lowin. "What did you do? What did you do there, Norma?"
After the makeup artist laughed with Berry about "the things I do to you," the actress also showed off her adjusted eyebrows and some realistic-looking tattoos that were applied for the performance.
"Thank you Halle for letting me take you to the limit for your character! I had a lot of fun working with you to create Momma 🙏🏽💗," the makeup artist commented.

According to anofficial synopsis for the film, the Academy Award winner plays a "protective mother" of twin sons, played by Anthony B. Jenkins and Percy Daggs IV, whose "only protection" is "their house and their family’s protective bond."
"Needing to stay connected at all times – even tethering themselves with ropes – they cling to one another, urging each other to never let go. But when one of the boys questions if the evil is real, the ties that bind them together are severed, triggering a terrifying fight for survival," the synopsis added of the film, directed by Alexandre Aja.

In April, Berry spoke about the film at CinemaCon when she revealed she had to do a "little bit of Method acting" to get into the role. She shared at the time that her character in the horror flick was "eating bugs and frogs — raw frogs — in the woods," and that she "had to really skin a squirrel."
"These things wildly challenged me to create some reality within this world that felt so foreign," she said.
PEOPLE previously reported that PETA confirmed director Aja only used realistic-looking props in the production.
Never Let Go is now in theaters.
