Taylor Zakhar Perez is recounting a bizarre encounter with a fan at the SAG Awards 2024.

While speaking with E! on the red carpet prior to Saturday's awards ceremony, the Red, White & Royal Blue actor shared that a fan of his trailed him on a trip to China and back to the United States again when carpet host Loni Love asked for the story of his wildest fan encounter.

"My wildest fan encounter? Somebody followed me to China and then followed me back home," Perez, 32, said on the carpet. "So that was interesting. Yeah, that was wild. I'd say that's wild."

"Yeah, yeah, she was great," Perez added, when the host asked to clarify that he "was okay, though,"

Perez, who is at Saturday's SAG Awards ceremony as one of this year's ambassadors for the actors guild along with Ted Lasso's Phil Dunster, did not explain the extent of this fan interaction any further. Representatives for the actor did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

The actor did speak to the chances that Red, White & Royal Blue, the 2023 romantic comedy h -

e costarred in with Nicholas Galitzine, will receives a sequel (the movie was adapted from the 2019 novel of the same name by author Casey McQuiston).

"I do - I think it's up to Casey McQuiston, because I think she has the opportunity to tell a really cool story," Perez said. In the film, he played a fictional son of the United States' first woman president who falls for an English prince (Galitzine). "So we'll see, with Amazon Studios, what they say, what Casey says and director Matthew López, but fingers crossed."

Perez and Dunster were named SAG ambassador's for the guild's awards show Saturday because they “exemplify the utmost values of the profession and are positive role models for the next generation of performers,” SAG-AFTRA shared in a press release Feb. 14. “These individuals actively use their platform to advocate for humanitarian and public service endeavors.”
