"Thank you, God, for this journey to happiness,” the TV personality said

Blac Chyna is celebrating 16 months of sobriety and counting.

On Sunday, the TV personality — who now goes by her birth name Angela White — posted a video on Instagram after reaching the milestone, coming home to a surprise from her boyfriend, songwriter and rapper Derrick Milano.

Milano laid out sticky notes for each month of sobriety, pairing each with a handwritten motivational message. He also included a custom cake and balloons for her.

“I just walked in the house and look what Derrick put together for me. He put all these special notes for me for all the months of my sobriety,” White, 35, said as she showed off the sweet gesture. “Today marks 1 year, 4 months of my sobriety. Sixteen months…ah!! I’m going for the two.”

White also posted a photo of the moment she called her formerly estranged mother Tokyo Toni and showed her the cake Milano got her. She even included a screenshot from her Twelve Steps app tracker celebrating the sobriety milestone.

“Grateful for 1 year and 4 months of sobriety, 16 months of blessings. Thank you, God, for this journey to happiness,” she captioned the post.

In October 2023, White appeared on the lat -

est episode of the Viall Files podcast and discussed how she’s managed to make such great progress in her sobriety and fitness journey.

During the show, host Nick Viall asked the model what pivotal moment made her decide to really tackle getting — and staying — sober.

“It’s a very hard thing. I had to teach myself discipline,” White admitted. “Even with my sobriety, working out, and becoming closer to God with my spirituality, that stuff takes discipline. It's not just a one-day thing. These are things that you have to continue to do on a daily basis. All these things are gonna come at you through your mind, body and your soul and spirit.”

“So I was like, you know what, if I stay disciplined like, ‘Alright, this is my set schedule for working out. It doesn’t matter if I stayed up the night before, if I have to go to work at a certain time, you’re gonna work out,’” she explained.

White said that she has to “put the work in,” especially as someone in the public eye, but she wanted to be in a good space all around.

“Sometimes it can become hard. And with the sobriety, I just needed a clear mind,” she added. “I just feel like my kids are getting older and I just need to be 100% clear-minded all the time.”
