Tori Spelling is still adjusting to her new normal.

Earlier this week, theBeverly Hills, 90210alum, 50, filed for divorce from Dean McDermottafter 18 years of marriage.

Now, a source tells PEOPLE that Spelling is navigating her split the best she can. "It’s been pretty rocky for everyone, but Tori is finding her way," the insider says.

"She’s getting used to being a single mom. She’s checking off boxes for her priorities," they add of Spelling. "Her main focus was to find a new home for her kids, and they now have a rental. She takes things day by day for now."

PEOPLE has reached out to representatives for both Spelling and McDermott.

In court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Spelling cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind her split from McDermott, 57.

Spelling has requested the court to award her spousal support and terminate McDermott's ability to receive the same support, and their official date of separation listed as June 17, 2023.

The actress also asked for sole physical custody of their five minor children —Liam Aaron McDermott, 17,Stella Doreen, 15,Hattie Margaret, 12,Finn Davey, 11 andBeau Dean, 7 — and joint legal custody with McDermott's visit -

The filing did not indicate if the former couple had a prenuptial agreement in place. Spelling also stated that the nature and extent of their respective properties have yet to be determined.

Spelling and McDermotttied the knotin a private ceremony in Fiji on May 7, 2006, after meeting the previous year while filming the TV movieMind Over Murder.

Back in June 2023, on the same day listed as the date of separation between the estranged pair, McDermottannouncedthat the couple had decided to go their separate ways in a statement that was later deleted from his Instagram.

“It’s with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children, that @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways, and start a new journey of our own,” he wrote at the time.

In recent months, both Spelling and McDermott have both moved on. McDermott is seeing new girlfriendLily Calo,while Spellingwasspotted kissing Ryan Cramer, the CEO of Santa Monica-based agency Neuron Syndicate Inc., in November.

Despite their new love interests, McDermott toldPage Sixin March that Spelling isstill his “biggest fan” and described her as “caring,” “empathetic” and someone who “wants the best for everybody” sometimes “at the expense of her happiness.”
