'We’ll Never Be the Cool Kids': Valerie Bertinelli and Boyfriend Playfully Attempt a Transformation Video

Valerie Bertinelli is trying new trends with her new man!

The former Food Network star, 64, posted a video of herself and her boyfriend, Mike Goodnough, on Instagram on Saturday, June 8, as they got ready for the 2024 Daytime Emmys, which they attended together on Friday, June 7, at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in Los Angeles.

The pair wore casual jeans and T-shirts, and laughed as they tried to synchronize a jump for a trendy social media video documenting their transformation for a glam night out at the awards show.

It took them a few tries, but they eventually jumped correctly, allowing for a smooth cut to Bertinelli in an elegant white suit with her hair styled in subtle waves. She was arm-in-arm with Goodnough, who sported an all-black suit with matching sneakers.

"We're good!" the Hot in Cleveland star could be heard saying as she giggled and walked off frame with her partner.

"I could never direct for you," Goodnough said before the video ended.

"Sooo… tried to make one of those newfangled transition videos like the cool kids. It went…well…like this 🤣😂," Bertinelli captioned the video, set to an instrumental of Queen's "Under Pressure."

Goodnough also posted about their night out at the Daytime Emmys on Instagram on Saturday, using a photo he took on his phone while they were sitting at their table during the ceremony.

"So, going to the Daytime Emmys with@Wolfiesmomlast night was a trip," he captioned the selfie of the couple, in which he gazed at his girlfriend as she laughed. "There are a lot of shots floating around of the two of us but my favorite is this one. I took it at the table with my phone. It’s the one that captures our relationship."

He continued: "The celebrity stuff is fun for a minute as a novelty… but it’s just what comes with what Valerie does for a living. It isn’t what matters."

The sweet caption ended with Goodnough revealing how the couple ended their night.

"At the end of the day, we’re just two people who got to dress up but then skipped the gala and went home and ate pizza together," he wrote.

The couple went public with their relationship in April.

“I’m in love,” Bertinelli told PEOPLE in April. “It’s a seesaw of emotions because I was adamant I was never falling in love again."

"I was supposed to die with my six cats and my dog and very happily live the rest of my years alone — I'm good alone," she said. “My belly is flip-flopping. This was not supposed to happen."
