‘Dune 2,’ ‘Fall Guy’ Sound Experts Formosa Group Announces Return of Company Founder Bob Rosenthal As CEO

Bob Rosenthal, who founded Formosa Group in 2013 and stunned many in the community when he suddenly resigned in the spring of 2023, is returning to the postproduction sound company as CEO.

The company, which started as an independent entity, is a division of parent company Streamland, whose brands also include Picture Shop and Picture Head. On the heels of Rosenthal’s resignation, company employees had petitioned Streamland, asking it to keep Formosa Group under Rosenthal’s leadership.

“The company was conceived asa singulardestination for artists to render their inspiring work within a collaborative and supportivehome,” said Rosenthal in a released statement. “Based upon our incredibly talented artists and our dedicated and dynamic leadership team, Formosa Group has established a distinctive environment to best serve content creator’sideas and attract incredible talent. I am anxious to return to the people I cherish and the company I revere.”

up since the company was founded and who took over many of Rosenthal’s responsibilities following his departure, will serve as chief operations officer.

Rosenthal also reteams with a long list of award-winning sound pros. The roster of sound editors and rerecording mixers includes Ron Bartlett, Anna Behlmer, Michael Benavente, David E. Fluhr, Karen Baker Landers, Mark Mangini, Craig Mann and Mark Stoeckinger.

Formosa Group–whose sound pros’ recent credits include “Dune 2,” “The Fall Guy,” and Apple TV+ series “Masters of the Air”–services productions in features, TV, commercials and games at facilities in Los Angeles, London, New York Seattle and Toronto.
