Dave Bautista has a “man crush” on Dune: Part Two costar Josh Brolin.

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the movie's New York City premiere on Sunday, Bautista, 55 — who plays Beast Rabban in the film — opened up about working with his star-studded cast mates.

“It's intimidating,” the actor tells PEOPLE. “It's really intimidating, looking over and seeing Stellan Skarsgård and looking down and seeing Christopher Walken, and seeing Timmy Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya and Austin Butler and Florence Pugh and Josh Brolin.”

“God, I have a man crush, a huge man crush on Josh Brolin,” he adds. “I love him as a performer, as a human being.”

Bautista also revealed more about his memories of working with Brolin, 56, in the Marvel franchise where he played the role of Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, while Brolin portrayed Thanos in The Avengers.

“That's where we got to -

know each other,” he tells PEOPLE. “I've known Josh for years and we really got, I think, close during our conversations, very intimate conversations during our Marvel years.”

Speaking about working on the set of Dune: Part Two with director Denis Villeneuve, Bautista says, “My favorite memory was my first day at work, when I was just there for costume fittings.”

“Denis had come in to say hello to me,” he adds. “I was dying to have this conversation about the character because he's more fleshed out, he's more developed in this. And I said, ‘Let's talk about it. Who is he? What do you think?’ And he said, ‘Let me dream about it tonight and I'll tell you tomorrow.’ ”

"I thought that was the best answer I've ever gotten from anyone in my life," Bautista continues. “It just gave me chills.”

“I knew that he was going to come back and we were having this very special, intimate conversation about the character,” he says. “That's what my experience is with him. Even when my parts aren't that big, he's just invested, invested in my characters and invested in me.”
