Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz’s story continues!
On May 10, Amazon MGM Studios announced that a sequel for Red, White & Royal Blue is currently in the works.
The upcoming movie will reunite stars Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez who captured fans’ hearts with their onscreen romance. It follows the story of Prince Henry (Galitzine), a British royal who is forced to hide his sexuality, and Alex Claremont-Diaz (Perez), the outgoing son of the U.S. president, who initially share a rivalry that turns into a close bond.
Based on Casey McQuiston’s bestselling 2019 novel of the same name, the film adaptation first premiered in August 2023 to rave reviews from critics and book fans alike.
Though plot details for the second film are currently tightly under wraps, much of the creative team will return, including director Matthew López who is teaming up with McQuiston to write the screenplay.

Other casting news hasn’t been announced, though it’s possible Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson and Uma Thurman will also return.(On May 10, Thurman hinted at her casting by posting an Instagram with Galitzine and Zakhar Perez stating "reunited with my sons!")

Additionally, Berlanti Schechter Films’ Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter will return to produce the film, joined by the banner’s Michael McGrath as well as López, per an official press release. McQuiston is also on board to executive produce.
At the moment, plot details haven’t been announced. However, it’s likely the follow-up film will continue to show the evolution of Prince Henry and Alex’s love story.
After a rocky romance in the spotlight, the first film ends with the two embracing their newfound freedom as a couple as they visit Alex’s childhood home. The film ends with them telling each other, “We won,” referring both to their happily ever after and Alex’s mom getting reelected as president.
Amazon released teaser art for the sequel when it was announced. The image shows a chunk of white cake (nodding back to a key plot point in the first film) with the United Kingdom and United States flags on each side as a No. 2 candle sits in the middle. Alongside the image, the text reads: “Fancy another slice?”
At the moment, it’s unclear when the film will start production, though both Perez and Galitzine’s schedules appear to be clear with the latter just releasing his new romantic comedy with Anne Hathaway, The Idea of You.
Like the first film, the sequel will be available to stream exclusively on Prime Video.
