George Lopez is nothing if not a good friend. Just ask KISS's Paul Stanley.
Lopez, 62, sold flowers when he was 14 to buy his first guitar. "It’s become my vice to buy them," he tells PEOPLE in this week's issue.
"I have 60 in my house. It helps because everybody whose poster I had on my wall I became friends with in life. Carlos Santana. I send Paul flowers on his birthday every year," Lopez adds.
They are friendships Lopez will never take for granted. "This guy is one of the most recognized figures in the world. He's been all over the world," he explains of Stanley. "When I send him flowers, he calls me, 'George, these flowers, they're unbelievable.' If they're unbelievable to him, they belong in the lobby of the Taj Mahal."
The actor and comedian, who stars alongside his daughter Mayan in the NBC hit sitcom Lopez vs Lopez, sat down with the magazine for One Last Thing:
Last time I dancedI danced in my garage of all places. Whenever I let -
the car warm up, if I hear “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out” by Bruce Springsteen, I just dance.
Last time I faced a fearI jumped off a 40-ft. cliff in Hawaii. My legs were a little too straight, so I bruised my tailbone. But now I’ve done it. I don’t think my skeletal structure at this stage could do it again.
Last DIY projectI’m not handy, but I’ll tell you why. I was cleaning my rain gutters on my first house. The guy I bought it from asked if I was a professional gutter cleaner. I said, “I’m not.” He goes, “What are you?” I said, “I’m an actor, a comedian.” And he says, “Then get down before something happens and you never act or tell jokes again.” I don’t take a lot of advice, but I take it when it makes sense.
Last thing I learned about myselfIf I don’t take a shower by 2 p.m., I’m going to stay in the same clothes all day. You know when they say Elvis never left his upstairs? I get it now.
Lopez vs Lopez airs Tuesdays on NBC.
