‘I’m Sooooo Not Chill’: Sabrina Carpenter Reflects on Her Saturday Night Live Musical Guest Debut

Sabrina Carpenter cannot get over her debut as a Saturday Night Live musical guest.

The singer, 25, sang her hit single "Espresso" during the show's season 49 finale on Saturday, May 18, which was hosted by actor Jake Gyllenhaal, 43.

The following day Carpenter shared a clip from her appearance on Instagram, showing her singing lyrics including, "I'm working late, 'cause I'm a singer" during the bar-themed performance.

Referencing the same lyrics in her caption, the musician wrote, "Literally working late cuz I’m a singer @nbcsnl thank you for having us I’m sooooo not chill about it and never will be."

During her appearance, Carpenter also belted out a medley of her tracks "Feather" and "Nonsense."

Her debut on the show also came as Adele mentioned the song "Espresso" while taking the stage for her Las Vegas residency show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

While speaking about returning to performing in Vegas after a stint on vocal rest, Adele said in a video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), "I nearly p----- myself because my whole body clock was out of sync... So being on stage at 11:30, I was desperate for a pee."

"But I'm always, you know, going back to the hotel, in the hotel, whatever, by, sort of like, 11:10 at the latest. And then -

I have to warm my voice down, then I have a steam shower and things like that," the British singer went on.

"As I got into bed last night — 'cause that's a very late night for me, normally I'm in bed by 9 p.m. — I found myself singing, 'I'm working late, 'cause I'm a singer,' " she continued, singing the words to Carpenter's "Espresso."

"That Sabrina Carpenter song! 'I can't relate to desperation.' That song is my jam!" Adele added.

"From tomorrow, it will be like, 'I'm sleeping late 'cause I'm a singer,' because that's what I'm gonna do tomorrow," the "Easy on Me" hitmaker later joked.

"Um guys can someone check on me," Carpenter then wrote on her Instagram Stories, sharing a snippet of the clip. She also reacted to a Pop Base post on X about the video, joking: "all i read was Adele thinks about me in bed <3"

Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. EST on NBC and will return for season 50 in the fall.
