Jennifer Gates Takes Daughter Leila to Equestrian Event to Check Out the ‘Itty Bitty Jumper Division’

Jennifer Gates is introducing her daughter Leila to the equestrian world.

On Saturday, the 27-year-old daughter of billionaire Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates shared an adorable photo of herself showing her 1-year-old daughter a look at a riding area at an equestrian event.

In the candid photo posted on her Instagram Story, Gates could be seen holding Leila up in her arms so that she could peek at the horses in the pen and their riders. Leila, who wore a pink flower in her hair and a green sundress that matched her mother's dress, smiled for the camera as Jennifer appeared to tell her something.

“Leila checking out the itty bitty jumper division today,” Jennifer wrote over the photo.

In a second post, Jennifer showed a video of her own equestrian run at the event. In the clip, she and her horse could be seen hitting one of the rails on the obstacle course, which prompted her to note it was “not our day, but that’s okay.”

A love for horses runs in the family, as Jennifer's husband, Nayel Nassar, also participates in equestrianism. Nassar, 33, is an Olympic equestrian who previously competed at the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo. The couple's love for horses and the sport is what brought them together.

The pair wed in October 2021 after nearly four years of dating, and welcomed their first child, Leila, in February 2023. The pair confirmed the happy news on Instagram with a photo of them holding their baby girl, and wrote. "Sending love from our healthy little family ????????????.”

Gates and Nassar celebrated their daughter’s first birthday in February with a sentimental joint post on Instagram reflecting on Leila's growth over the past year, alongside photos of her hanging out at home with their dogs and playing with some toys.

"Can’t believe this girl made us parents one year ago today. Leila, you’ve brought indescribable joy to this world with your endless laughter, curiosity and love for all things animal🐴🐶!" Jennifer wrote in the caption.
