King Charles Meets with Korean War Veterans as Royal Family Conspiracy Theories Continue Online

The King, who is undergoing cancer treatment, traveled from Windsor Castle to Buckingham Palace following rumors of the BBC being "on standby" for a royal announcement

King Charles is keeping up with royal duties.

The 75-year-old monarch, who is being treated for cancer, was seen leaving Windsor Castle on Tuesday, sitting solo in the backseat of a car.

King Charles traveled to Buckingham Palace, where he met with Korean War veterans to mark the 70th anniversary of the conflict. The King was photographed chatting with British veterans Alan Guy, Mike Mogridge, Brian Parritt and Ron Yardley.

To commemorate the anniversary, Princess Anne and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh hosted a reception on Tuesday for around 200 veterans of the conflict on behalf of the King. Princess Anne, 73, gave a speech during the reception.

King Charles' latest outing comes after speculation spread across social media that the BBC was "on standby" for an official royal announcement. Some claimed the update involvedKate Middleton, who continues her private recovery followingabdominal surgery, while others alleged that it was aboutKing Charlesamid his cancer treatment.

The King’s cancer diagnosis was announced in February. The news came after the King had a hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement the previous month (however, the palace clarified that the monarch does not have prostate cancer).

Buckingham Palace said in a statement at the time that King Charles would have “regular treatments” for his cancer and he “remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible."

Despite largely stepping out of the public eye, King Charles has continued to hold audiences and work behind the scenes.

King Charles' latest appearance comes after he reportedly intends to attend theTrooping the Colour, the annual public celebration of his birthday,amid his cancer treatment in June.

TheDaily Mailreported on Sunday that the King is "determined to attend" his birthday parade in London on June 15 and could travel by carriage from Buckingham Palace instead of riding on horseback as he did last year.

"There are a number of key events His Majesty would love to attend coming up in the diary and this is at the top of the list," a source told the outlet.

Buckingham Palace previously told PEOPLE that all options are being explored ahead of the event.
